SilenceBreakers are a Smarta 100 award-winning green social enterprise re-utilising materials in media projects for the empowerment of disadvantaged groups - giving a voice to the voiceless and creating community “SilenceBreakers” all across Northern England and beyond.
We do this by distributing reconditioned computers to people who wouldn't otherwise have access to them and offer training in how to use them. In this way, we enable people in disadvantaged communities to have a voice via the worldwide web - via such activities as weblogging, video-making, and animation, amongst others.
In addition to collaborations with other social enterprises, we work with partners in both private and public sectors to make the most from these sustainable social media projects.

We also offer a range of
services, such as computer collections, PAT testing, low-cost computers, media equipment hire, and workshops.
